In the watershed area of Los Cacaos, ICP supported around 600 farmers who are members of the association ASOCAES. The objective of this project was to raise coffee quality and productivity while promoting the production and processing of other products, such as tropical fruit. Here, the key component in conducting sustainable business operations was to establish a farmer owned company. The acquisition of land titles provided collateral for financing operations for the farmers’ agro-industrial business.

For this project ICP has been cooperating with the national coffee organization, CODOCAFE, together with the French Agency for Development Cooperation (AFD), the Centre for the Development of Enterprise of the EU (CDE) and OXFAM – GB.
